Six games into the round robin playoffs and wow are things getting tight for the fight for the final four. July 18th had some big scores close games upsets and a few penalties in IBHL play.

Nobletoyz 2
In a game that saw some short benches, Lockyer and Nobletoyz played to a draw at the end of 1 with each team potting a pair, but that would be the end of Nobletoyz goal getting as the Lockyer & Hein lads took full advantage of the short benched Toy team. Nobletoyz net nabbers were Derek Benjamin from Hunter McGregor, and MacGregor from Michael Kadish & Randy Garcha. Lockyer’s point getters were Jordan Burke. Riley Valade, Mitch Banks, Josh Van Amelsvoort, Devon Dunkerley, Dave Smith, Carter Tremblay & Matt Berry.

In a tight match, Link Mechanical got on the board first with a goal from Jakob Gatt, helped by Jesse Gatt & Gavin D’Eri late in the 1st period. After that there was no scoring until halfway through the 3rd frame when Owen Adams from Andrew McClure & Brennan Ciccotelli tied it up for Riverdale. 2 minutes later Ciccotelli from McClure & Adams put Riverdale in the lead and 1 minute later Mark Ebsary from Tyler Richards & Robert Lenstra sealed the win for the Fitness fellow.

In a tight first period the Bolton Toyota crew snagged a 1 goal lead with Travis Tancoo finding the back of the net. Toyota then crashed through the next 2 periods taking advantage of the shot-benched Carney Crew. Carney’s lone lamp lighter was Andrew Whale from Matthew Bis & Brian Dunn. Toyota’s other game sheet makers were David Burke, Michael Sampson, Kevin Anderson, Keith Anderson, Jake Power, Brendan DaFoe & Nav Grewal.

With the top 2 teams of the round robin facing off neither team could best the other with both keepers Johnathan Crocetti, Adcro and Christian Rasmussen, Foot Clinic playing their hearts out to stop the orange ball. Foot Clinic got on the board in the first with Hayden Heinrich from Jonah Kennedy & Owen Sclisszi lighting the lamp. Not to be outdone, Adcro netted one in the 2nd with Vince Figliomeni bulging the twine tent unassisted to tie the game at 1’s. The 3rd saw Adcro pot a pair right off the start with Aman Gill (unassisted) and Connor Catenaro from Gill & Alex Della Mora finding the back of the twine tent to give Adcro the 3-1 lead. But the young guns from the Foot Clinic wouldn’t be beat as they potted a pair later in the frame when Cooper Bertrand from Kennedy & Heinrich, and Heinrich from Bertrand & Sclisszi drew the game to a draw.

In a game that could have gone either way, both teams played hard and took the first period to feel each other out with neither team getting on the score sheet. The second frame saw Jason Oreskovic from Kevin Cordeiro & Phil Oreskovic get the Cyclers on the board and carry the 1 goal lead into the 3rd. Less than 2 minutes into the 3rd Wendle Simpson from Cody Gibson & Andy Williams tied it up for Gusto. The play stayed tight until the midway point of the frame when Brandon Verrinder from Gibson & Williams got what would be the game winner. The cyclers then poured it all on and Dylan Berry stood tall and stopped all further onslaughts with Simpson from Tyler Fell adding and empty net marker to seal the deal.
